Salma Waheedi, Lecturer on Law and Executive Director of the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World, was named the Harvard Divinity School's 2023-2024 Religion and Public Life Fellow in Conflict and Peace. 

Salma Waheedi, Lecturer on Law and Executive Director of the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World, was named the Harvard Divinity School’s 2023-2024 Religion and Public Life Fellow in Conflict and Peace.

At the Harvard Divinity School, Waheedi will collaborate closely with the Religion, Peace, and Conflict Initiative, which focuses on building a contextualized understanding of religion in relation to structural injustice and approaches to peace building.

She will take part in the Initiative’s academic engagement with issues at the intersection of religion, international law, and human rights, and will contribute to teaching and mentoring students from across Harvard graduate schools, with a focus on the interdisciplinary study of law, religion, and conflict.

Religion and Public Life (RPL) promotes the public understanding of religion in service of a just world at peace. It collaborates across disciplines and vocations to examine religion in context in ways that depend the understanding of the causes of injustice while opening imaginative possibilities for addressing the urgent challenges of our times.
